Anne Thompson Obituary, Death – I am sorry to say that today was ANNABELLE’S last class. Due to the tragic and unexpected passing of their teacher, Anne Thompson, Annabelle and her older sister Grace came to me for emotional support. We have already made plans to get together throughout the holidays in order to catch up on all of the enjoyable lessons that we have had during our time together. It is really wonderful that Annabelle’s mother Jo has made the decision to take up her piano lessons and start her adventure with the instrument.

There is little doubt that our studio is going to miss Annabelle very much. She was born in Ohio, the daughter of Clifford M.D. and Mabel Casto Stalnaker, both of whom passed away before her birth. The John J. Tyler Aboretum in Media, Pennsylvania was her previous place of employment as a bookkeeper. “Aunt” Anne was a beautiful person who had a deep love for her family. She was a sounding board and source of counsel, and she was always prepared to listen and offer assistance. Her love of reading led her to become known as “Aunt” to a large number of people she came in contact with.

She also gave her time to read to students at Martin Elementary School. Mollie Dennis Robert, her sister, who resides in Vienna; Robin Lilly Bill, her niece, who also resides in Vienna; and Robert Dennis, her nephew, who is in Parkersburg are the people that are left behind after her passing. Sarah Anne Shockey, Chris Lilly, Noah Lilly, Cheyenne Lilly, Grace Lilly, and Andrew Lilly are her honorary grandchildren on account of their contributions to her family. Her great-grandchildren, Marlie, Karlee, Bailey, and Wes Lilly, who are considered to be as honorary.

Her husband Ralph Thompson, her sister Glenva Kuhn, and her brothers Otho and John Stalnaker all passed away before her. She was the only surviving member of her immediate family. At a later time, when it is most convenient for the family, a memorial service will be given in honor of the deceased. On November 20, 1942, Anne Hamilton was born in Media, Pennsylvania to her parents, Arthur and Jessie Hamilton. She received her high school diploma from Glassboro High School in New Jersey after beginning her education at Upper Darby High School in Pennsylvania.

At the Beverly Hills UP Church, she was a devoted member of the congregation. In 1974, on November 30th, she tied the knot with John A. Thompson, Jr., the man she had loved all her life. They moved from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, where they had begun their family, to South Florida in 1981, where they brought up their two children, John and Jill. Their trip carried them from Upper Darby to South Florida. In 2002, they chose Lakeland, Florida as the location of their permanent residence.

Beginning her career in 1960 with Reliance Insurance in Philadelphia, Anne worked as an insurance agent for a total of 48 years. She eventually retired from Lanier Upshaw in Lakeland in 2008, having worked there for the most of her career. Anne, a proud mother, was responsible for making holiday rituals more meaningful. In addition to taking pleasure in spending time with her cherished grandkids Bradley and Courtney, she was enthusiastic about inviting her friends and family members into her home with open arms.
