Vernie Boyd Obituary, Death – On Thursday, March 14, 2024, Mrs. Vernie Boyd, who was 81 years old and lived in Davenport, Virginia, passed away in her residence and went to be with the Lord. She was a daughter of Lee Boyd, who passed away, and Lydia Charles Boyd, who also passed away. She was born on December 11, 1942 in Buchanan County, Virginia. As someone who had lived in this region her entire life, she was a devoted Christian who had been a member of Russell Fork Church for thirty-eight years.
She cherished spending time with her immediate family as well as the members of her church family, second only to serving the Lord. At the time of her passing, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Boyd, in addition to her parents. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Quillion Boyd, who resides in the house; three sons, Avery Boyd and his wife, Karen, of Davenport; Gregory Boyd and his wife, Jennifer, of Davenport; and Charles Boyd and his wife, Jennifer, of Grundy; two daughters, Liz Owens and her husband, Benny, and Vickie Stevens and her husband, Tim, of Pounding Mill.
Grandchildren, Jessica Howard, Jason Woods, Travis Boyd, Joshua Stevens, Kara Boyd, Raegan Boyd, and Jordan Wilson; great-granddaughter, Adriana Ward; great-great-grandchild, Cayson Ward; one sister, Martha Boyd; one brother, Russell Boyd; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to express their gratitude to Helping Hands Hospice and Tanji, her hospice nurse, who became a member of the family from the very beginning of their association with the organization.
On Sunday, at eleven o’clock in the morning, funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Honaker Funeral Home in Honaker, Virginia. The Reverend Denver Barton will preside over the ceremony. Next, the burial will take place in the Family Cemetery, which is located on Foxfire Road in Davenport. There will be pallbearers consisting of friends and family members. A group of men from Russell Fork Church, including James Barton, Jennings Boyd, Clifton Barton, and Clifford Breeding, will serve as honorary pallbearers at the funeral service.
On Saturday, the family will be present at the Honaker Funeral Home to greet friends beginning at six o’clock in the evening. The Reverend Clarence Yates will preside over the evening ceremony, which will begin at seven o’clock.
