Anthony D’Apolito Obituary, Death – Anthony “Tony” P. D’Apolito, who was 90 years old, passed away yesterday, September 14, 2011, at the Greenbrier Healthcare Center in Boardman. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. The eldest son of Lumeno and Philomena (Martoriello) D’Apolito, Tony was born on March 27, 1921 in the Bronx, New York. He was the first child of his parents. Tony worked as a self-employed contractor and was the proprietor of D’Apolito Construction.
A large number of people, including his sons and grandsons, were employed there over the course of his career. Additionally, he was an entrepreneur who displayed reel-to-reel movies and served pizza and candied apples at Volney Rogers Fields. He was also a movie theater owner. In spite of the fact that he eventually retired, he continued to be active and was able to complete a concrete driveway or patio well into his seventies.
His wife, Helene (Dohar) D’Apolito, along with his two sons, Judge Lou D’Apolito (Paula) and Tony D’Apolito, stood by his side till the end, providing him with care and comfort in order to make sure that his final days were serene. He is survived by his wife.
His brothers, Andrew D’Apolito (Milena) and Frank D’Apolito (Katherine), as well as three grandsons, Anthony M. D’Apolito (Melissa), Tonio D. D’Apolito, and Amato D’Apolito, as well as two great-grandchildren, Myranda and Nicholas D’Apolito, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews, are also among those who he leaves behind.
His parents, his first wife, Irene (Mavrikis) D’Apolito, his infant daughter, Charlotte, his infant sister, Carmella, and his brother, John D’Apolito, all passed away before Tony. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Tony will be remembered as an eternal optimist by everyone who had the opportunity to know him.
He was devoted to his family, had a great time living his life, and considered everyone he came in contact with to be a friend. Every person who knew him was motivated to live each day to the fullest extent possible because he made it his goal to do so.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011, from three to seven o’clock in the evening at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home Funeral Home, which is located at 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
A prayer service will take place at six thirty o’clock in the evening. On Monday, September 19, 2011, at ten o’clock in the morning, a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be performed at St. Maron’s Church. The Liturgy for Anthony will be celebrated by Chorbishop Michael Kail.
