Van LeRoy Ballard Obituary, Death – Van LeRoy Ballard, a beloved member of the Kendallville community, formerly of Sturgis, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 24, 1952, in Sturgis, Michigan, to the late James Taylor Ballard and Beatrice (Adolphson) Ballard, Van’s life was marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a passion for simple pleasures.
Van’s journey began at Sturgis High School, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He embarked on a career at Grumman Olsen, marking the beginning of his lifelong dedication to the manufacturing industry. Over the years, he worked for various manufactured housing and RV companies, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. His tenure culminated as a table saw operator, a role from which he retired in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and craftsmanship.
Outside of work, Van was a man of diverse interests. An avid golfer, he found solace and joy on the green, honing his skills and enjoying friendly competition with friends and family. He also had a passion for NASCAR, finding excitement and camaraderie in the thrill of the races. However, above all else, Van cherished spending quality time with his family. Whether gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories, or embarking on outdoor adventures, he treasured every moment spent with his loved ones.
Van’s memory will be forever cherished by his surviving family members, including his sons, Keith and Amy Ballard, Kevin and Rachel Ballard, and James Fox, who brought immense pride and joy to his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, each holding a special place in his heart.
In addition to his immediate family, Van is remembered fondly by his sister, Judy Lowe of Constantine, Michigan, and his brothers, Rusty and Marsha Ballard, Jeff and Marcia Ballard, and Steve Ballard, all of Sturgis, Michigan. Together, they shared countless memories and forged unbreakable bonds that will endure beyond his passing.
Although Van’s daughter, Lindsay Lynette Holler, and daughter-in-law, Cherri Fox, preceded him in death, their memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved them dearly.
In honor of Van’s life and the profound impact he had on those around him, there will be no formal services held at this time. Instead, a celebration of life memorial gathering will be organized at a later date, providing an opportunity for close family and friends to come together, share stories, and pay tribute to a life well-lived.
