Shelter-in-place procedures are being implemented at El Cerrito High School today, as a result of an active shooter

There is a lockdown at El Cerrito High School today:-! An alarming tip that indicated an active shooter situation was received today from El Cerrito, which is located in the state of California. The information indicated that there was a problem with a shooter.

The appropriate lockdown procedures were immediately deployed as a response to an altercation that took place on the campus of El Cerrito High School. This resulted in an enhanced level of concern for the safety of both the students and the personnel.

In an effort to address the situation as swiftly as possible, the safety team has been dispatched, and the El Cerrito police department is currently on its way to provide additional support and assistance. At the same time that the situation is evolving, updates will be distributed in order to guarantee that everyone is continuously informed of the latest developments.

We are making every attempt to find a solution to the problem as fast and safely as we possibly can due to the fact that we place the biggest value on the health and safety of every individual who is engaged.

In reference to El Cerrito High School
The West Contra Costa Unified School District is home to El Cerrito High School, which is a public high school that offers four years of education. Students from El Cerrito, a section of eastern Richmond (east of Interstate 80 and south of San Pablo Dam Road), and the unincorporated areas of East Richmond Heights and Kensington are served by this institution, which can be found on Ashbury Avenue in El Cerrito, California, in the United States of America.

There were 1,570 students enrolled at the school during the 2021-22 academic year, and there were 68.8 classroom instructors working on a full-time equivalent basis. This resulted in a student–teacher ratio of 22.8:1. The number of students who were eligible for free lunch was 481 (30.6% of enrollment), while the number of kids who were eligible for reduced-cost lunch was 42 (2.7% of students).
