The passing of licensed Eastport pilot, Dennis Turner, has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues. Dennis, who hailed from Perry, Maine, passed away on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, at the age of 74. His sudden departure has shocked those who knew him, as the circumstances surrounding his death remain undisclosed at this time.
A Life of Education and Service: Born on April 9, 1949, in St. Stephen, NB, Dennis Turner spent his formative years in Eastport and Perry. He was a dedicated scholar, graduating from Shead Memorial High School in 1967 before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Husson College. Dennis began his professional journey at the Mearl Corporation in Eastport during his teenage years, where he honed his skills in chemistry. However, his interests spanned far beyond his career, showcasing a remarkable intellectual curiosity that led him to delve into various subjects through extensive reading and research.
A Passion for Aviation and Community: Dennis Turner’s adventurous spirit extended to aviation, as he held a pilot’s license and actively contributed to the Eastport Airport Committee.
Additionally, he generously volunteered for Eastport’s former ambulance corps and served on the Eastport School Board, highlighting his dedication to community service and education.
Even after relocating with his wife Gwen to their residence on the Shore Road in Perry, Dennis continued to enrich his community through various engagements, leaving a lasting impact on all those he encountered.
Fondly Remembered and Survived By: Dennis Turner is survived by his loving wife Gwen, his daughter Amy, and his son Jeffrey, along with their respective families. He is also remembered fondly by his brothers, sisters-in-law, step-brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepfather, Dennis’s memory lives on through the cherished moments shared with his family and the contributions he made to his community.
In Memory and Tribute: In accordance with Dennis’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. However, those who wish to honor his memory may make donations to North Perry United Methodist Church or Sarah’s House of Maine.
