Obituary: Owen Cameron Missing Middletown RI, Death – Yesterday, the body of a Portsmouth adolescent who had been reported missing after leaving work on Saturday was discovered. According to the Middletown police department, the body of Owen Cameron, who was 17 years old, was discovered late on Wednesday morning near the Newport State Airport.

The body was partially immersed in water. The Middletown police department, along with the Newport and Portsmouth police departments and members of the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, conducted a search of the area surrounding the airport using all terrain vehicles at 11:17 a.m., according to the police. They successfully located Cameron’s body.
An inquiry into the method in which the deceased person passed away will be carried out by the Rhode Island State Medical Examiner’s office, which was responsible for recovering the body. No criminal activity is suspected at this time, according to the police. Cameron was a student at Portsmouth High School at the time of the letter that was sent out by the superintendent of schools in Portsmouth, Thomas Kenworthy, to the community of the school on Wednesday afternoon.
The statement stated that Cameron “was recently focused on pursuing a career as an electrician.” In addition to providing counseling help on Thursday, Kenworthy stated that all of the schools in the district will be available to provide it whenever it is required in the weeks to come.
“Our thoughts are with Owen’s family and friends and we will be respecting their privacy during this difficult period,” Kenworthy stated in his statement. At approximately 7:15 p.m. on March 23, Cameron was last seen leaving his employment at Anthony’s Seafood on Aquidneck Avenue. According to the Middletown police department, this was the last time anyone saw him.

Tragic news. I am sure many of you have already heard. Owen has passed away. He got disoriented walking to the bus stop and was found in the fields near by. What no parent ever wants to hear. Our lives are forever changed. The outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, colleagues, strangers and the community as a whole has been astounding. The Middletown Police Department worked day and night to find him. We just wish the outcome was different. We will announce plans for a service when they are solidified.
