Blantyre Shooting: 1 hurt, heavy police at Asda Blantyre Superstore, manhunt near Glasgow Road
Blantyre Shooting Investigations: Law enforcement agencies in Blantyre are investigating a shooting incident that left one person injured at the Asda Blantyre Superstore Wednesday night. According to law enforcement agencies, officials were called to the scene for an armed person’s report.
Authorities have urged all residents to avoid the Asda Blantyre Superstore at this time as an increased police presence is in the area. According to a local, an armed subject was seen running from the scene after firing multiple shots at an individual near Glasgow Road.
An alert has parts of Blantyre’s Logan Street and Church Street closed off this evening, Wednesday 27th March. A serious police incident prompted between 20 to 25 police vehicles to attend the scene. Officers have closed access to parts of Logan Street, St Andrews Court, and Church Street.
Just after 8pm, Police asked nearby residents to stay indoors for now whilst they get a handle on the situation with searches of nearby gardens underway. The police helicopter is overhead as of 8.30pm.
Glasgow Road was still passable by vehicle until just before 9.00pm but now with reports of drivers being turned back at the Asda roundabout.
Terminal One issued a statement just before 9pm tonight confirming the incident “Please note that Terminal One is not part of the ongoing incident tonight. All our young people and staff are fine.” This is a developing story
