Authorities are urgently calling for public assistance in the search for 37-year-old Chris Smelley, a kayaker who has gone missing in the Gulf of Mexico off Grayton Beach, Walton County, FL. Smelley was last seen on the morning of Thursday, embarking on a fishing trip in his distinctive blue and black kayak but has not returned since.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office, along with the South Walton Fire District, have initiated an extensive search operation using jet skis to comb the waters off Grayton Beach in hopes of finding Smelley.
