Linda Mullen Obituary, Resident of Keokuk, Has Passed Away at Age 72
Linda Mullen Obituary, Death – At River Hills Village in Keokuk, at the age of 72, Linda Sue Mullen, who resided in Keokuk, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Her parents, James and Jean Budzinski Carlton, welcomed her into the world on August 11, 1951 in Peoria, Illinois. Later on, Linda attended Southeastern Community College to earn her associate’s degree after graduating from Limestone Community High School in Bartonville, Illinois, where she was a member of the class of 1967.
At Iowa Wesleyan College, where she continued her education and eventually earned a degree in business in 1985, Linda continued her education. As a certified lay servant for the Methodist Church, she received her degree from Simpson College in 2009 and graduated with honors.
Among Linda’s many volunteer and board positions in the Keokuk area were those of the United Way, the Keokuk Public Library, the Keokuk Housing Authority, the Keokuk Business Professional Women, the Keokuk American Legion Auxiliary Unit #41, and the Department of Iowa American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to being a lifelong member, she presided over the department in 2000 and 2001. Linda was unwavering in her determination to make a difference, whether she was serving at church, taking part in community initiatives, or planning events. Helping military families was her life’s work.
She enjoyed reading, doing computer work, taking country bus tours, and giving David instructions when she had free time. Dave Mullen of Keokuk, Linda’s spouse, Richard Gobart (Meg) of Keokuk, two granddaughters, Lily and Emma Gobart, and a grandson, Levi Krome, survive her.
Her brother James Carlton (Sue) of Hesperia, California, and sister Jan Carlton, along with many nieces and nephews, also survive her. Her parents and sister, Judy Wright-Mays, preceded her in death.
At 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Pastor Dave Barrett will preside over a funeral service at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk. At Keokuk National Cemetery, there will be a burial. Following Tuesday’s 1 p.m. visitation, friends and family will gather at the funeral home to pay their respects. time: 4:00 to 7:00 est. Emmanuel United Methodist Church or the Department of Iowa ALA Junior Camp would be appropriate places to send memorial contributions in place of flowers.
