Nancy Patricia Gray Obituary, Death – On March 28, 2024, Nancy Patricia Gray passed away in the comfort of her home in Plymouth Township, surrounded by the people she loved. She had been passing away peacefully. She had reached the age of 85.
Alloy, Fayette County, West Virginia was the location where Nancy Bess was born on December 2, 1938. Her parents were Rufus and Jeanetta Bess. Immediately following the passing of Rufus, Jeanetta tied the knot with Howard Lucas, and the Lucas family relocated to Fayetteville, West Virginia. Where Nancy spent her childhood, she was surrounded by her cousins and other relatives.
After graduating from Fayetteville High School in 1958, Nancy stayed committed to her alma mater. She maintained close ties to her high school friends and a strong sense of family and connection to her West Virginia roots throughout her life. Nancy visited Fayetteville often, particularly for the annual Bridge Day Celebration and the Myers family reunion, and she maintained constant contact with her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nancy was forced to leave her loved ones and the comfortable surroundings she had grown accustomed to when her family relocated to Ashtabula, Ohio. Eventually, she returned to Fayetteville to live with Betty and Frank Henson, her aunt and uncle, who took on the role of her devoted surrogate parents. The relocation did not satisfy her, and she eventually went back to Fayetteville. Nancy valued this relationship highly until the time of their deaths.
Throughout his boxing career, his participation in the National Police Olympics, his work as a police officer, and his responsibility as a father, Nancy was a devoted partner to Skip. When her beloved Skip was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, she was not only a loving caregiver but also a tireless caregiver. In order to fulfill his day-to-day requirements and be there for him in times of health and illness until his passing in January 2023, she made a selfless sacrifice that spanned many years.
Nancy was a young and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in addition to being devoted to Skip. She was young and full of life. Attending events such as gymnastics competitions and Little League Baseball games, she was an active participant in the pursuits and activities that her family participated in. She never failed to allow time for all of her family’s pursuits, and through her own actions, she instilled in them a sense of belonging to a family and solidarity.
Skip Jr., Kimberly Ann, and Mark are the three children who will carry on her legacy and honor her memory. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Erin, Bethany, Lauren, Karlee, Jason, and Markie, as well as ten great-grandchildren, Bohden, Vehda, Raihden, Elliana, Makenna, Graylen, Lane, Wrenley, Tristan, and Zoey. In addition to her brother-in-law, Gregory Gray of Charleston, West Virginia, she leaves behind her cherished siblings, Howard M. (Wanda), Thelma (Rick), Anita (Frank), Frances Kay (Jerry), and Roy (Jeanette). There will be no set time for calling.
Visiting hours at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, will begin at 1 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville is where the funeral will take place.
