Janet Andrews Obituary, Resident Of Independence, IA Peacefully Died Following A Courageous Battle With Cancer

Janet Andrews Obituary, Death Cause – In the aftermath of a valiant fight against cancer, Janet R. Andrews, 75 years old, a resident of Independence, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at her residence in Independence. On Thursday, April 4, 2024, at eleven o’clock in the morning, there will be a Celebration of Life held at the Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence.

This will be followed by a light lunch provided by Denali’s in Independence, which will continue the Celebration of Life. At a later time, the burial will take place. At the church on Thursday, memorial visitation will begin at nine in the morning and continue until the ceremonies begin. She was the daughter of Floyd and June (Larson) Holst and was born on March 14, 1949 in Independence, Iowa.

Janet R. Holst was named after her mother. Her graduation from Independence High School was in 1967, and she was a member of the class. Later on in her life, she enrolled in the Administrative Assistant program at Hawkeye Community College and ultimately graduated from that institution. Janet wed Michael Irwin, and the couple went on to have two children together: Lori and Jennifer.

In later years, the couple divorced. On August 30, 1991, Janet Andrews and William G. “Bodie” Andrews exchanged their vows and became husband and wife in Independence. Together, they had a passion for traversing the nation in search of antiques and traveling.

At the same time as she loved her family, Janet loved the Lord. Working in her garden and beautifying both her home and the church were two of her favorite things to do. The Golden Girls was one of her favorite shows to watch, and she was a huge fan of driving her Ford Mustang GT. In Independence, Janet attended the Hope Wesleyan Church as a member of the congregation.

Janet is survived by her husband, Bodie Andrews, who resides in Independence, Iowa; two daughters, Lori (Chad) Albright of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jennifer (Brent) Pettigrew of Center Point, Iowa; one step-daughter, Heather Andrews of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brooke Albright, Paige (Duncan) Smeins, Jordan (Chelsea) Bellendier, Ellea Kreb, and Khloe Pettigrew; four great grandchildren, Blakely, Watson, J.T., and Blane; and one brother, Ken Holst in Center Point, Iowa, who is married to Dee Holst. Her parents, as well as her two brothers, Roger Holst and Richard Holst, passed away before she was born.
