Mark Young Obituary, Death Cause – As a result of a valiant battle against multiple myeloma that lasted for eleven years, Mark A. Young, age 64, of Natick, Massachusetts, who had previously resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia, died away in a tranquil manner on March 23, 2024. During the latter days of his life, he was able to spend time with his wife, Laurie, as well as his two sons, Matthew and Alex. Mark’s intellect was naturally inquisitive, and he had an irrepressible urge to learn about each and every individual he came into contact with during the course of his life. Whether it was in the job, on a trip to the bank, or on an errand to the local market, Mark had the extraordinary ability to leave a “mark” on everyone he came in contact with.
This was true regardless of the purpose of his interactions. When he was with his sons, he would regularly remind them that it is necessary to “pay attention to life.” He believes that this is an important moral. He was able to remember the most minutely specific information about the people in his life because he was able to serve as a model for others to emulate. An good example of a father, spouse, friend, and neighbor, he was sensitive to other people, which made him an excellent model of all of these roles.
Mark, a student athlete at the University of Pennsylvania, was successful in his athletic activities. He was a member of the men’s heavy weight crew team and served as Treasurer of Saint Anthony Hall Fraternity. Mark was also a member of the Saint Anthony Hall Fraternity. After completing his undergraduate studies, he went on to get his Master of Business Administration degree at the New York University Stern School of Business, which is located in Manhattan.
During the course of his successful career as a banker, Mark worked in a variety of financial institutions, including the Manufacturers Hanover Trust in New York City, the State Street Bank, and the Citizens Bank in Boston, among others. Mark’s professional career was filled with success and accomplishments. The year 2007 saw the beginning of his own advice firm, Grist Mill Advisors, which he had established after decades of working to cultivate strong connections inside the publishing industry. A man of profound religious convictions, Mark was a devoted member of the Pilgrim Church in Sherborn, Massachusetts, and he attended services there on a consistent basis.
Additionally, he served as the treasurer on the board of directors of the church, in addition to being a member of the committee that was responsible for the memorial endowment. Mark had a strong desire to continue the traditions that he had witnessed during his childhood. For example, he would organize potluck meals and church-wide family weekend retreats on the Cape. He also enjoyed carrying on certain traditions. When he was a child, he had a deep desire for his children to enjoy the same experiences that are so significant to him. He wanted them to have the same opportunities that he had. Considering that Mark was a voracious reader, he was overjoyed to have the opportunity to spend his leisure time searching for the next fantastic historical biography.
Furthermore, he took a great deal of enjoyment in attending sporting events with his sons and in spending time by the pool with his wife and best friend, Laurie. Both of these activities brought him a great deal of joy. With regard to his condition, Mark remained unflappable throughout the entire process. Due to the fact that he was a really good patient, he was able to get as much information as he could on his condition, which was multiple myeloma. Pharmaceutical companies put him on expert patient panels and invited him to speak at conferences about his experience living with this illness. He also received invitations to speak at conferences.

His wife, Laurie (Elgas), of Natick, Massachusetts, his sons Alex Young of Boston and Matt Young of New York City, his sister Rebecca Stack of Montpelier, Virginia, and her husband Raymond Stack, his father Ron Young of Richmond, Virginia, his aunt Connie Young of West Chester, Pennsylvania, his uncle Ron Walters of East Patchogue, New York, his niece Sarah Stack of Richmond, Virginia, his nephew Christopher Stack of Charlottesville, Virginia, and his wife Kayla, and a number of cousins are among those who survive Mark. His wake will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the John Everett Funeral home in Natick, which is situated at 4 Park Street. Relatives and friends are cordially welcome to attend his wake, which will take place at the funeral home.
