The Coast Guard has tragically ceased its search for Jeffrey Kale, a 47-year-old fisherman from Clover, South Carolina, who was reported missing on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. in the vicinity of the North Carolina coastline. Kale’s body was discovered after over 100 hours of aerial and maritime searches, covering an expansive area of roughly 11,690 square miles, larger than the size of Maryland. The search was prompted by the discovery of Kale’s unoccupied boat on Tuesday morning, with his reported disappearance dating back to Saturday at around 10:30 p.m.
Commander Corrie Sergent, deputy commander of Sector North Carolina, extended heartfelt condolences to the Kale family during this challenging time. She expressed gratitude to all involved in the search efforts, including Coast Guard personnel, Navy resources, commercial aid, and numerous altruistic individuals.
