Helen Demarest Obituary, Man died in Danville house fire identified by coroner
Helen Demarest Obituary – The identity of the individual who lost their life in a house fire in Danville on Friday has been disclosed by Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden.
The incident occurred on McKinley Street and the victim has been identified as Helen Demarest, a 66-year-old.
Upon receiving a distress call at 11:52 p.m., the Danville Fire Department promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered intense flames engulfing the front and west sides of the residence.
A witness in the vicinity informed the firefighters that there was still a person trapped inside the burning house.
The fire crews swiftly initiated the process of extinguishing the fire and successfully gained control over it.
Subsequently, additional firefighters entered the premises and located Demarest. The Illinois State Fire Marshals office is collaborating with the Danville Fire Department to ascertain the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined at this point.
It is worth noting that there were no functional smoke alarms present within the residence.
