Malachi Williams Obituary, Man killed in officer-involved shooting identified
Malachi Williams Obituary – The deceased individual involved in the officer-involved shooting on Thursday night has been identified by the San Marcos Police Department as 22-year-old Malachi Williams. The next of kin has already been informed of the tragic incident.
On the evening of Thursday, April 11, at approximately 9:30 p.m., law enforcement officers promptly responded to a distress call made by two individuals.
These individuals reported to 911 that a man in his twenties was persistently following them as they walked in the vicinity of East Hopkins and Cheatham streets.
According to the callers, the man trailed them from a nearby convenience store into a neighboring residential area. They further stated that the man brandished two large knives and made threats towards them.
Upon the arrival of the police, the suspect had already left the scene after the individuals being followed contacted emergency services. At around 10:33 p.m., officers in the vicinity located an individual matching the description provided by the 911 callers at the convenience store.
The suspect proceeded to leave the store and swiftly crossed Hopkins Street, eventually reaching Thorpe Lane where he entered a business that was occupied at the time.
Despite the officers’ attempt to subdue the suspect using a taser, their efforts proved unsuccessful in halting his actions, as stated by the police.
