Lucy Vanatta Obituary – The identity of the 17-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in a traffic accident on Saturday has been confirmed as Lucy Vanatta.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Highway 80 near Highway 54 in Dexter.
According to investigators, Vanatta was traveling north on Highway 80 when her vehicle veered into the southbound lane, ultimately ending up in a ditch and colliding with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.
In response to the emergency, the sheriff’s office received assistance from Pittsville Fire, Arpin Fire, Vesper Fire, Wood County Highway Department, and DNR Rangers.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
