Mike Jensen,Lt. Michael Hoosock Obituary – The tragic incident in Salina, New York, resulted in the loss of two law enforcement officers, Syracuse Police Department Officer Mike Jensen and Lt. Michael Hoosock from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. The officers were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle on Darien Drive when they were
met with gunfire from the suspect. The suspect, identified as Christopher R. Murphy, was fatally shot by the police. Both Jensen and Hoosock were rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. Syracuse Police Chief Joe Cecile expressed his sorrow, calling the fallen officers heroes.
The situation unfolded after a failed vehicle traffic stop, leading to the tragic events of the night. Mayor Ben Walsh described the incident as a nightmare come true for the city of Syracuse.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining body-worn cameras and other evidence. The New York State Attorney General’s office will also be involved in the investigation.
