Victor Godyn Obituary – The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 71-year-old bicyclist lost his life in a collision in Forsyth County during the weekend.
According to law enforcement officials, the county 911 center started receiving reports at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Saturday regarding a bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle at the junction of Castleberry Road and Kings Common Way near Cumming.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that a 1994 Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck, driven by 48-year-old Matthew Holbrook of Cumming, was heading north on Castleberry Road in the inner lane when a bicyclist, identified as 71-year-old Victor Godyn of Cumming, was traveling west on Kings Common Way and entered the intersection.
The sheriff’s office mentioned that Godyn was almost through the inner lane when he was struck by the pickup truck. Godyn was declared deceased at the scene.
The sheriff’s office stated that a deputy found Holbrook to be impaired, leading to warrants being issued for him on charges of vehicular homicide and DUI drugs. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
