Sgt. Colin Arslanbas Obituary – The Marine who tragically lost his life in a training accident in Carteret County has been identified as Sgt.
Colin Arslanbas, according to a press release from II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.
Sgt. Arslanbas, who was assigned to the Maritime Special Purpose Force, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Lejeune, passed away shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday.
Col. Todd Mahar, the commanding officer of the 24th MEU, expressed deep sorrow for the loss and extended heartfelt condolences and unwavering support to Sgt. Arslanbas’ family during this difficult time.
Sgt. Arslanbas, originally from Missouri, joined the Marine Corps on March 26, 2020, and had recently been promoted to the rank of sergeant on April 1.
He served as a Reconnaissance Marine with the MSPF and received several commendations, including the Marine Corps Good Conduct medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service medal, and the National Defense Service medal.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the accident.
