Police officer hurt in stabbing, hostage situation in Ilkeston, Erewash, Derbyshire County
Ilkeston community is in shock following the latest knife incident involving police officers. Derbyshire Constabulary is investigating a stabbing incident involving their officer on Saturday evening. An officer have been injured following a stabbing and suspect barricade incident in Ilkeston, Erewash, Derbyshire County.
A large number of police vehicles, ambulance, and forensic team were seen outside a home on Beauvale Drive. A part of Beauvale Drive and Millersdale Ave in Ilkeston, Derbyshire have been closed due to police investigation on Hartington Place, according to a police statement. One police officer was seen getting into an ambulance with a non-life threatening injury to the body, according to Derbyshire Constabulary.
A police helicopter was seen circling in the area as the officers continue to investigate the ongoing incident, according to Ilkeston Now News. Locals have been warned to stay away from the area as the suspect has not been taken into custody. A part of the Skeavington’s Lane, Ilkeston, Derbyshire is also closed to the investigation.
Officers from the Derbyshire Police, forensic team, police helicopter, ambulance are responding to the scene of the incident. One officer has been transported to a trauma centre for treatment. Following the incident, Derbyshire Constabulary released the following statement;
Derbyshire Constabulary: There is currently a large police presence in Ilkeston this evening (Saturday 20 April) following an incident at a property on Hartington Place, due to concerns for the safety of a man. We will remain in the area as a precaution for the safety of the public. A police officer was taken to hospital earlier this evening for treatment for an injury which is not life threatening. We will provide further updates when we are able to.
