Troy Leonard Sims Death – Newberry Police are currently looking into a shooting incident that resulted in two individuals being injured and one fatality on Saturday evening.
According to Coroner Laura Kneece, the shooting took place at approximately 9:20 p.m. in the vicinity of Emory and Hunt streets. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered three individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.
While one victim was transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital, another received medical attention on-site. Unfortunately, the third victim, identified as 53-year-old Troy Leonard Sims by Kneece, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the Newberry Police Department, Newberry County Coroner’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
