Speeding Motorcyclist, Jeremy Ponton Passes Away After Fiery Crash With Pickup Truck In Lakeside
On Tuesday, April 16, Jeremy Ponton lost his life in a motorcycle crash that caught fire in Lakeside. The deadly collision occurred on Winter Gardens Boulevard close to Lemon Crest Drive shortly after 8:00 a.m.
A 2013 Ford F-150 pulled out of a driveway north of Lemon Crest Drive and into the path of Ponton, who was traveling at a high speed on Winter Gardens Boulevard while operating a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pickup truck and Ponton’s motorcycle collided and caught fire.
Ponton was declared deceased at the UCSD Medical Center in San Diego after emergency personnel arrived in a hurry. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, he was 34 years old.
The Ford’s driver and his passenger escaped uninjured. Drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the crash, which is being looked into.
