North Texas Police Officer Nancy Dominguez Dies After Off-Duty Crash
A North Texas officer has died after being in a car crash on Saturday afternoon, according to local police.
The Princeton Police Department announced the death of Officer Nancy Dominguez on social media.
According to their post, Officer Dominguez was off duty when she was in the accident. Police say that happened at about 5:20 p.m. on East Lucas Road and Lakeview Drive.
Police say an investigation showed a Ford F-150 was traveling westbound when its back end lost traction due to wet roadway conditions.
The driver reportedly tried to gain control but skidded into the eastbound lane, and a Honda Civic traveling in that lane struck the passenger side of the pickup.
Both vehicles slid off the roadway, police say. The driver of the pickup and two other passengers were taken to the Medical City of McKinney with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officer Dominguez, in the Civic, was reportedly taken to Medical City McKinney, where she was pronounced dead.
No other details about the crash are available at this time.
Princeton Police say Officer Dominguez joined the department in late July 2022.
In those two years, officials say she received numerous awards, including two consecutive Rookie of the Year awards, a Life Saving Award, and a Citizen Commendation Award.
“We are devastated and heartbroken to share the passing of Officer Nancy Dominguez, a dedicated public servant and cherished member of the Princeton community,” police shared on social media.
