Esteemed Infectious Disease Specialist, Dr. John W. Sensakovic Passes Away At JFK Medical Center In Edison
On April 19, 2024, in the JFK Medical Center in Edison, Dr. John W. Sensakovic, a respected infectious disease specialist and a beloved member of his community, passed away.
His age was 77 years. Dr. Sensakovic made a lasting impression on both the professional and personal fronts by dedicating his life to family and medical excellence. He was born in Perth Amboy and has lived in Lincroft since 1983.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sensakovic made important advances in medical science and achieved notable successes.
He held positions as the Corporate Director of Medical Education at Saint Michael’s Medical Center, the Director of the Nosocomial Disease Laboratory at Saint Michael’s, and the Director of Infection Control at JFK Medical Center.
His dedication to expanding medical knowledge and practice was further demonstrated by his position as Seton Hall University’s Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education.
His medical knowledge was well-known, and he was rated one of New Jersey’s top five infectious disease doctors and received honors like the Clara Barton Medical Service Award.
His colleagues held him in high regard and frequently sought his counsel on difficult medical matters.
John was a devoted family man who put his family above his career. His beloved granddaughters Lauren Michele, JT, and Annie, as well as his daughters Sonia Marie Handshy (and her husband Rob) of Illinois and Michele Sensakovic of Freehold (and her fiancé James) survive him.
He was married to Beverly Sensakovic for 56 years. His pride and delight were these three children, and he loved every second he spent with them.
Dr. Sensakovic was an enthusiastic outdoor enthusiast who found happiness and comfort on Long Beach Island, where he relished sailing, fishing, and spending time with his loved ones.
He had multiple boats, including Sonia Michele, Beverly Anne, and Triple Treasure, all of which were named after his family and the sea.
