Dustin Lorenzana, 36-Year-Old Pampa Man Killed in Fatal Head-On Crash on I-40 Near Amarillo

A fatal collision occurred on Interstate 40 near Amarillo in Potter County during the early hours of Saturday. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at approximately 1:36 a.m.

on April 20, a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling in the wrong direction on the westbound inside lane of I-40, while a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling east in the same lane. The Equinox collided head-on with the truck.

Following the collision, the Equinox veered into the center median and came to a stop against the cable barrier, facing southwest.

On the other hand, the truck crossed the center median, broke through the cable barrier, and came to a rest in the westbound inside lane, facing east.

The driver of the Equinox, identified as Dustin Lorenzana, 36, from Pampa, was pronounced dead at the scene by Potter County Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson.

Fortunately, the other driver involved in the collision did not sustain any injuries. The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are currently investigating the crash.
