Mary E. Baugher, 63-Year-Old Milan Woman Hit by Vehicle on Route OO near Milan Dies in Hospital
A car struck a pedestrian on Sunday afternoon north of Milan, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated that the incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. on Route OO, three miles north of Milan.
The victim, identified as 63-year-old Mary E. Baugher from Milan, was struck after stepping into the path of a northbound 2011 Ford Expedition. Johnathon M. Stanton, an 18-year-old also from Milan, was driving the SUV.
Authorities mentioned that Baugher had left a parked vehicle just moments before the accident.
She was then taken by Sullivan County Ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, where she was pronounced deceased shortly before 1 am on Monday.
Littrell’s Towing removed the SUV from the scene after it had suffered minor damage. Officials noted that Stanton was using a safety device at the time of the incident. No insurance was reported for the vehicle.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and Milan first responders were present at the scene.
