It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ray “Bo” Baum Jr., a cherished member of the Kenton community, who left us on April 19, 2024, at the age of 58. Bo passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus due to health complications.
Born on August 10, 1965, in Kenton to Janice (Ellis) and Ray Baum Sr., both of whom predeceased him, Bo lived a life marked by passion for his interests and love for his family. He married Jessica Nelson on November 23, 2019, who remains to celebrate his memory.
Bo is survived by a loving family: his wife Jessica Nelson of Kenton; his daughter, Saylor Baum of Sidney; his son, Seth Nelson of Kenton; his sister, Chris (Kenny) McLane of Kenton; his brother, Kelly (Ann) Baum of Findlay; and a special cousin, Larry Wells Sr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Ellis; two sisters, Sherry Grigaliunas and Anna May Baum; and a niece, Stacy Ellis.
Known for his skilled hands and creative spirit, Bo was proficient in laying block and brick, and he cherished the time spent working on cars. His love for car races and antique cars often saw him wheeling and dealing, always looking for the next great find. His giving nature was evident in how he lived—always ready to help anyone in need without a second thought.
Bo’s life was one of generosity and kindness, qualities that deeply ingrained him in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Bo’s life will be held at a later date, and he will be cremated as was his wish. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements. In recognition of Bo’s giving spirit, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Not By Choice or the Amvets Post 1994 Riders.
