Alanah Phillips Dies In Fatal Berlin Township, Michigan Shooting

In a tragic incident over the weekend, two young siblings lost their lives when a suspected intoxicated driver plowed through a child’s birthday gathering in Monroe County.

On Saturday, April 20, a boy and a girl, both below the age of 10, met their demise in the calamity.

Alongside, the children’s mother and another sibling sustained severe injuries, among several others.

Events Unfolded

Saturday afternoon witnessed a birthday celebration for a young child at the Swan Boat Club in Berlin Township, as per the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Situated off Lake Erie in Berlin Township, the club became the scene of the tragic incident.

Around 3 p.m. on Saturday, a suspected drunk driver crashed into the building, striking a wall on the northern side of the structure.

A 66-year-old woman driving the vehicle, whose identity is unknown, came to a stop about 25 feet inside the building.

The crash claimed the lives of two children, a brother and a sister, identified by authorities as 8-year-old Alanah Phillips and her 5-year-old brother, Zayn Phillips.

Additionally, a third sibling and the children’s mother suffered severe injuries in the collision.

They were rushed to the hospital and remained in critical condition, as per a GoFundMe initiative launched for the family.

Among those injured on Saturday, nine individuals, comprising three children and six adults, sustained injuries necessitating hospitalization.

It’s believed that this count includes the victims’ mother and sibling. Other injured parties sought medical assistance privately, officials stated.
