Jay Hayes, Ex-Londonderry High School WR and Senior Biomedical Engineering student Jay Hayes Passes Away
The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student community is mourning the loss of a member and active student-athlete, Jay Hayes. The former Londonderry High School Wide Reciever was found dead from suicide, according to local RPI News.
Jay Hayes was a class of 2020 graduate at Londonderry High School in the New Hemisphere. He was a senior biomedical engineering student at RPI.
Until his tragic demise, Jay was studying in an accelerated MBA program and was actively seeking different opportunities to combine his two degrees and relevant work experience in the medical devices industry.
James (Jay) Hayes, IV, was an active student at the RPI. According to his academic profile, Jay was the VP of Communications of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity, on the Dean’s list, an ALAC tutor, an undergraduate research assistant, and a senior student at the university (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute).
He was expected to graduate in May of this year (2024). After his freshman year, Jay was offered provisional admission into the MBA program at RPI’s Lally School of Management and was expected to graduate in 2025. He was on the Dean’s List in recognition of superior academic performance in both freshman year semesters.
The academic administration recommended Jay to be an I-PERSIST Chemistry Mentor for the incoming freshman class as a recipient of the RPI Leadership Scholarship. While he was an active student, Jay also worked as a client liaison manager at the Center for Disability Services in Watervliet, New York.
Back home in Londonderry, Jay was a basketball coach at the Special Olympics of New Hampshire. Anyone suffering from mental anxieties and suicidal thoughts is urged to call LifeLine at 988.
