Throughout the years, Lyne served with distinction in several crucial roles. Her leadership qualities shone through as she took on the positions of Vice President, Membership Officer, Correspondence Secretary, and Publicity Officer. Each role was tackled with the same dedication, ensuring the smooth functioning of the organization.
Beyond the Official Title: A Passion for Exploration and Education
Lyne’s dedication transcended official titles. She was an invaluable member of the Cemetery Tours Group, her passion for local history fueling her meticulous research. As the coordinator for the October cemetery walk, she meticulously planned this annual event, ensuring it offered a unique and insightful experience for participants.

Lyne never shied away from collaboration. For many years, she represented our organization as one of the South Eastern Historical Association reps, fostering connections and knowledge-sharing between groups. Even amidst various medical procedures, Lyne’s commitment didn’t falter. Her determination culminated in leading the October 2023 cemetery walk, a testament to her unwavering spirit.
A Final Push: Leaving a Legacy for the Future
As we entered 2024, Lyne’s spirit remained unbroken. In March, she was actively involved, sending out publicity notices and delving into research for the upcoming cemetery walk at Emerald. However, April brought a turn for the worse, and she was readmitted to the hospital.
Through it all, Lyne’s belief in overcoming obstacles never wavered. We, her friends, colleagues, and fellow history enthusiasts, held onto hope for her recovery.
But on Anzac Day, a day of remembrance, Lyne peacefully passed away. While our hearts ache with her loss, we find solace in the immense legacy she leaves behind.
