Omar Barzak Obituary, – Omar Barzak, a 24-year-old resident of London, tragically lost his life in a collision on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 on Friday.

The accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. between Culloden and Putnam roads in Thames Centre, east of London, resulting in the closure of the highway for six hours. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Ontario Provincial Police expressed their condolences on social media, acknowledging that it was a difficult night for everyone involved. In memory of Barzak, an online fundraiser was organized, describing him as a beloved brother and a prominent figure in the community.

The fundraiser has raised over $112,000 for charitable initiatives in East Africa, including the dedication of a water well in his honor.

Barzak, a graduate of Western University, had recently been in Lebanon with Human Appeal, an international non-profit organization, where he was involved in collecting food and donations for displaced Syrian and Palestinian families. Additionally, he was a member of the Al-Asala Dabke Group, a dance group based in London that has a significant following on social media platforms.

A burial service for Barzak took place on Friday afternoon at the London Muslim Mosque. The mosque officials expressed their prayers and condolences, asking for patience and strength for the family, seeking forgiveness and blessings for the deceased, and hoping for his honorable reception in paradise.

The family was scheduled to receive condolences on Saturday between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. at the lower prayer hall of the London Muslim Mosque, located at 151 Oxford St. W.
