Gresham’s life was cut short in a heartbreaking incident that unfolded on Thursday, shattering the lives of those who knew and loved him. Chancellor Johnson Akinleye of NCCU conveyed the devastating news to the university community through a heartfelt letter, expressing the profound loss felt by all who had the privilege of knowing Gresham.

The incident that claimed Gresham’s life occurred on Rose Garden Lane in Durham, North Carolina, around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Durham Police responded to a report of a car crash in the area, discovering a vehicle that had collided with two parked cars upon their arrival. However, to their dismay, both parked vehicles were unoccupied. It wasn’t until the following day that Gresham was identified as the driver of the crashed car and was found with gunshot wounds. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The circumstances surrounding both the crash and the gunshots remain under investigation by law enforcement.

Throughout his time at NCCU, Gresham was known for his dedication to his studies and his active involvement in campus life. As a senior studying business administration, he pursued his passion for business both inside and outside the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. Additionally, Gresham held the position of treasurer in the Metro Eagles Club, a student organization that fosters community among students from the Washington, D.C. area. His contributions to the club’s social events and community service initiatives were deeply valued by his peers.

Chancellor Akinleye fondly remembered Gresham as a friendly and outgoing individual who made a positive impression on everyone he encountered. Akinleye also highlighted Gresham’s love for the Wordle game, a popular word puzzle, which served as a testament to his intellect and playful spirit. As the NCCU community mourns the loss of one of its own, fond memories of Gresham’s kindness, warmth, and infectious laughter serve as a source of comfort during this difficult time.

In the wake of Gresham’s tragic passing, the NCCU community has come together to support one another and honor his memory. Vigils, memorial services, and fundraisers have been organized to celebrate Gresham’s life and provide comfort to his family and friends as they navigate the profound grief of his loss. Additionally, counseling and support services are being offered to students, faculty, and staff members who may be struggling to cope with the tragedy.

As the investigation into Gresham’s death continues, the NCCU community remains hopeful for answers and justice. Law enforcement authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading up to Gresham’s untimely death, and anyone with information relevant to the investigation is urged to come forward.
