Caleb Hoover, a talented and compassionate pharmacist who dedicated his life to helping others, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the age of 27. The cause of his death was not disclosed. Caleb, who was born on January 17, 1997, in Springfield, Ohio, leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched through his work.
Caleb was a Neonatal ICU Pharmacist at Miami Valley Hospital, where he worked tirelessly to ensure the health and well-being of his patients. He was a graduate of Cedarville University School of Pharmacy, Class of 2022, and had a passion for medicine and helping others. His dedication to his work was evident in everything he did, and he was respected and admired by his colleagues and patients alike.
But Caleb’s impact went far beyond his work as a pharmacist. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. He was an outdoorsy person who enjoyed hiking, traveling, camping, and hunting with family and friends, particularly relishing National Park visits with his partner Carley. He was also an amateur radio operator and had obtained his license at the age of 9.
Caleb was a deeply religious person who was committed to his faith. He was an active member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church’s Security Team and had a passion for studying Greek and Hebrew to deepen his understanding of the Bible. His commitment to his faith was evident in everything he did, and he was a shining example of kindness, compassion, and love.
Caleb is survived by his loving wife, Carley Marie (VanNeuren) Hoover, whom he married on December 22, 2018; their daughter, Calista Mackenzie Hoover; sisters, Lydia and Hannah Hoover; grandparents, Steven N. and Dianna K. Starr; uncles, Steven (Bethany) Starr, David and Michael Starr; Jim (Frances) Hoover and Dan (Sylvia) Hoover; Aunt, Mary (Scott) Yingst; father-in-law, Daniel L. VanNeuren, mother-in-law, Cheryl A. VanNeuren; sister-in-law, Sydney M. Foster; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A Service to celebrate Caleb’s life will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, May 4th at Shawnee Hills Baptist Church, 3490 Jasper Rd. Jamestown, OH. Pastor Adam McCune, Pastor Phil Severn, and Pastor David Culver will be officiating. Visitation for the public will begin Saturday at 1 PM at the church.
