Chris Klaus, the founder and CEO of Kaneva, a company that creates three-dimensional virtual environments, expressed his profound sadness and heavy heart in sharing the news of his son’s passing.

Chris Klaus is a prominent figure in the tech industry, having founded Internet Security Systems Inc. (ISS) in 1994, which went public in 1998 and was later acquired by IBM in 2006 for over $1.2 billion. He is also a partner and founder of CyberLaunch, a startup accelerator focused on machine learning and security firms. Klaus has a long-standing connection to Georgia Tech, having donated funds to construct the Christopher W. Klaus Advanced Computing Building, a three-story academic building that houses part of the College of Computing, College of Engineering, and related programs.

Through his support of CREATE-X, a program that provides students with a platform to meet with industry experts and receive coaching, support, and funding to establish their own enterprises, Klaus has been energizing the future of technology at Georgia Tech. He is a member of various organizations, including the Film, Video, and Music Advisory Commission of the state, the Board of Visitors of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), the Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA), the Georgia Tech Foundation, and the Georgia Tech College of Computing.
