Buffalo Shooting Today: 14-Year-Old Girl Killed, Five Teenagers Injured in Devastating Shooting Outside House Party on Alexander Place, Near Site of 2022 Mass Shooting
A devastating shooting occurred in Buffalo’s East Side neighborhood on Saturday night, leaving a 14-year-old girl dead and five teenage boys injured. The tragedy unfolded outside a house party on Alexander Place, just five blocks away from the Tops supermarket where a racially motivated mass shooting took place in May 2022.
According to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, who spoke on his weekly radio show on Sunday afternoon, six young people between the ages of 14 and 16 were shot. A 14-year-old girl lost her life, a 15-year-old boy is in stable but critical condition, and the other four teenagers who were wounded are expected to recover.
The Buffalo Police Department is investigating the shooting and has yet to announce any arrests. Chief of Detectives William Craig Macy urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward, emphasizing that those responsible owe it to the victim and her family to take responsibility for their actions.
The shooting occurred around 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, following a series of calls from area residents reporting noise complaints and fights in the area. Police responded to the earlier calls and dispersed a large and chaotic scene, but later received reports of shots fired and a person shot.
The victims were shot outside a private house party on Alexander Place, near Jefferson Avenue. The 14-year-old girl was found mortally wounded at the scene and pronounced dead at Oishei Children’s Hospital. Four teenagers were taken to Erie County Medical Center, where one remains in critical condition and the others are in stable condition. A 16-year-old boy was grazed by gunfire but declined medical treatment.
Detectives are investigating whether multiple shooters were involved and have found several shell casings at the scene. They believe the shooting may have been prompted by fights that broke out at the house party earlier in the evening. However, a motive has not been officially confirmed.
The community is in shock and mourning the loss of a young life. The shooting is a painful reminder of the violence that occurred just blocks away in 2022, and residents are calling for an end to senseless violence and for justice for the victims and their families.
As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the shooting to come forward. The Buffalo Police Department is working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice and to ensure that such a tragedy never occurs again in the city.
