A devastating crash on New Hampshire Route 12 in the early hours of Saturday, May 4, 2024, has claimed the life of Stephen Despinosa, a 54-year-old resident of Troy. State Troopers from the Troop C barracks in Keene responded to the scene just before midnight, where they found a vehicle that had veered off the road and struck a large boulder, causing it to overturn.
Emergency responders from the Keene Fire Department and Troy Ambulance rushed to the scene, attempting to save the driver’s life with emergency medical measures. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful, and Stephen Despinosa succumbed to his injuries at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Preliminary investigations suggest that alcohol impairment may have played a role in the crash, although all aspects of the incident remain under investigation. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Troy Fire Department, Keene Fire Department, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
