Romualdo Balero (aka Romualdo Angulo Llanes), 33, of White City, Oregon, Charged with Second-Degree Murder, First-Degree Assault, and Multiple Felonies After Shooting Victim Near 29th Street and Falcon, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Reports

On Sunday night, May 5, 2024, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a reported shooting in White City, Oregon. The call came in around 11:15 p.m., and deputies were on the scene within minutes. They found the victim near the intersection of 29th Street and Falcon, and immediately began providing life-saving measures.

The victim was transported via Mercy Flights to a local hospital and is currently in serious but stable condition. JCSO deputies also located the suspect, Romualdo Balero, 33, of White City, attempting to flee the scene on Falcon Street. He was detained without incident and later booked and lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Balero, also known as Romualdo Angulo Llanes, is charged with multiple felonies, including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, felon in possession of a firearm, menacing, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. The investigation is ongoing, with JCSO detectives following additional leads and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

According to JCSO, the quick response and actions of the deputies on scene likely saved the victim’s life. The sheriff’s office is praising the deputies’ swift and professional response, which helped prevent further harm and ensured the suspect was taken into custody.
