Ronald Diggs, 38, Killed in Senseless Violence; Jaquan Curry, 19, Charged but Still at Large, Police Hunt for Additional Suspects in Deadly Waffle House Shooting near OSU

Tragedy struck near Ohio State University on April 29 when Ronald Diggs, a 38-year-old man from Georgia, was fatally shot outside a Waffle House on North High Street. Diggs was in town to perform a show, but his life was cut short in a senseless act of violence.

According to police reports, a fight broke out inside the Waffle House and spilled into the street, where Diggs was shot in the chest. Two other unidentified victims were assaulted and rushed to the hospital, where they were treated for their injuries.

Detectives have charged 19-year-old Jaquan Curry with Diggs’ homicide, but he remains at large. Curry has a prior gun-related offense from 2022, when he was charged with using a weapon while intoxicated. He was given a second chance through a gun safety pilot program, but it seems that opportunity was squandered.

On Tuesday, detectives released photos of four additional persons of interest they wish to interview in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information on their identities or whereabouts is urged to contact Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).

The community is in shock and mourning, demanding justice for Ronald Diggs and his loved ones. His family and friends remember him as a kind and talented individual who was taken from them far too soon.

As the investigation continues, police are working to piece together the events of that fateful night. Witnesses report hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a group of people fleeing the scene.

Jaquan Curry’s history with gun violence raises questions about the effectiveness of the gun safety pilot program he participated in. His case was dismissed after completing the six-month program, but it seems that he did not learn from his mistakes.

The Columbus Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward and help bring justice to Diggs’ family. The community is rallying around them, offering support and condolences during this difficult time.

Ronald Diggs’ tragic death serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of gun violence. His memory will live on, and his loved ones will fight for justice and accountability.

Rest in peace, Ronald Diggs. Your life was cut short, but your legacy will live on, and your loved ones will ensure that your memory is not forgotten.
