The incident happened around 9:00 a.m. at 351 Monroe Ave, where construction workers were installing a storm drain behind a business using heavy machinery.

According to preliminary reports, Corey, a Rutgers University alumnus and employee of K&D Contractors, became trapped in a large hole during the construction process. Despite the swift response of Kenilworth Police, Fire, and EMS, Corey was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) has launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, focusing on potential safety protocol lapses at the job site. The Kenilworth Police Department is also investigating the incident, urging respect for the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
