Sean Viator, a talented and accomplished dancer, choreographer, and educator, passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 31. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Sean began dancing at the age of nine and went on to pursue his passion for dance at the University of Arizona, where he earned a full scholarship.

Sean’s love for dance was unparalleled, and he inspired countless dancers across the nation with his unwavering support and encouragement. He was a dedicated educator, choreographing winning routines for Dance Force and teaching classes despite his busy schedule.

Sean’s professional career was marked by numerous accomplishments, including performances with award-winning artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, and Demi Lovato. He also danced on several TV shows and awards, including American Idol and the Billboard Music Awards.

In addition to his work as a professional dancer, Sean was a proud alumnus of DeFrances Academy of Dance and a member of Bloc Talent Agency. He was also an activist, advocating for people’s rights as a passionate affiliate of dance unions such as SAG-AFTRA.

Sean’s legacy extends beyond his impressive professional accomplishments. He was a kind and genuine person who made friends with everyone he met, and his sense of humor and kindness inspired those around him.

In lieu of flowers, Sean’s family has requested donations to a dance scholarship established in his name at the University of Arizona School of Dance. This scholarship will continue Sean’s legacy, supporting future generations of dancers and choreographers.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on May 10, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. Visiting hours will begin at 12:30 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite colors to brighten up the room in Sean’s honor.

Sean is survived by his father, Todd Viator; stepmother, Jennifer Viator; mother, Celeste Viator; sisters, Natalie Abshier and Stephanie Sturgeon; brother, Christopher VanDreumel; and nieces, Piper and Penelope Abshier.

Sean’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the dance community across the country, which has embraced and supported Sean throughout his life. His legacy will continue to inspire and motivate dancers and choreographers for years to come.
