Obituary, Death Thomas J. Kalista, a Beloved Resident of New Britain, CT, Passed Away on May 7, 2024

Thomas J. Kalista was born in New Britain, Connecticut, to William and Kathy (Morrison) Kalista. Tom was a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, where he received his undergraduate degree.

Tom was a loving father to his Omani pet, Soto, and a faithful husband, son, brother, and uncle. He was passionate about music and sports, particularly the Buffalo Bills, Chelsea FC, Washington Nationals, and Washington Capitals. He survived by his wife Hannah, parents William and Kathy, siblings Ryan Kalista and Nathan, sister Hailey Champagne, nephew Luke, and a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins.

Tom intended to play in the local Golf Fights Cancer event and played 100 rounds of golf with his loved ones. He brightened everyone’s day, made every space he walked into seem cozy, and made everyone smile.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday, May 14th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, CT. The funeral liturgy will take place at St. Bridget of Kildare Church in Moodus, Connecticut on Wednesday, May 15th at 11 a.m.

Donations can be made to a local dog shelter or rescue in Tom’s honor using a variety of methods, including the Tom’s Golf Fights Cancer page and another number of local ones. Visit (link unavailable) to send condolences and memories online.

Golf Fights Cancer is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises funds for cancer-related organizations and families living with the disease.

Thomas J. Kalista’s passing is a loss to his family, friends, and community. His passion for music, sports, and helping others will be remembered and cherished. Donations to Golf Fights Cancer and local dog shelters or rescues can be made in his honor.
