Devon O’Grady, a Cherished Resident of St. John’s, NB, Passes Away Suddenly
Devon Jonathan O’Grady, a beloved member of the St. John’s community, passed away suddenly on May 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.
Devon is survived by his loving fiancée, Laura Murphy, his two precious dogs, Leni and Chewy, his mother Sarah (Randy Hodder), father David (Jeff Butt), grandmothers Granny and Lulu, and his sister Kathleen (Jenna Mandville), who was also his biggest supporter.
He was a devoted member of many families and was welcomed with open arms by Laura’s family, including her father George (Lana Duggan), sister Tamara, brother Josh, and mother Sammy. Devon was also cherished by his four MacDonald brothers, numerous aunts, uncles, and the entire O’Grady, Murphy, Walsh, Capps, Miller, MacDonald, and Noseworthy families.
Devon’s greatest legacy is the smile he brought to everyone’s face the moment he walked into a room. Whether it was a joke, a compliment, or a thought-provoking statement, he had a gift for making everyone feel special. His volunteer work throughout his life is a testament to his kind heart, boundless curiosity about everyone, and generosity of spirit.
Devon was the ultimate team player, always willing to lend a hand or offer support. He was a passionate athlete, coach, and sportsman, well-known in the basketball and tennis communities, and a dedicated runner. As a lawyer at Poole Althouse, he was quickly making a name for himself as a trustworthy and compassionate advocate.
Devon and Laura had big dreams for their life together and were inseparable. They supported each other’s goals and were each other’s rock. Devon’s family says he was the happiest he had ever been with Laura.
