Tom Kalista, a loving husband, father, pharmacist, and sports enthusiast, passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 34. He was born in New Britain, Connecticut, to William and Kathy (Morrison) Kalista and is survived by his wife, Hannah Fish, and their Omani fur baby, Soto. Tom was a devoted family man and is also survived by his parents, William and Kathy, brothers Nathan and Ryan Kalista, sister Hailey Champagne, niece Chloe, nephew Luke, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins.
Tom was a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy, where he had previously studied. He was a skilled and loving pharmacist and instructor, dedicated to his work and his students. His passion for music permeated everything in his life, and he was known to brighten every room with his presence and make everyone laugh with his infectious sense of humor.
Tom was an avid sports fan and never missed a Chelsea FC match or a Buffalo Bills game. He became a passionate fan of the Capitals and Nationals while residing in Virginia, but he never forgot about his Yankees. He was thrilled to be an inaugural season ticket holder for RIFC and shared his passion for golf with family and friends. He planned to participate in the local Golf Fights Cancer 100 Rounds of Golf, a testament to his generosity and commitment to giving back to his community.
Tom’s love for his family and friends was unmatched, and he adored and cared for everyone in his life. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and father to his Omani fur baby, Soto. His family and friends came first, and he always put others before himself. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he made with those who loved him.
Visitation for Tom will be held on Tuesday, May 14th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, Connecticut. The Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, May 15th, at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget of Kildare Church in Moodus, Connecticut. Those who wish to pay their respects and celebrate Tom’s life are welcome to attend.
