A tragic weekend in Chicago has left at least three people dead and 21 others injured due to gun violence, with the victims identified as a 30-year-old man and another man in his 40s.

A 30-year-old man lost his life after being shot in the chest following an altercation with another man on the South Side of the city. The shooting occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday at a Maxwell Street Polish located in Park Manor on the 7400-block of South State Street. The gunman fled the scene in an SUV heading north on State Street. No other injuries were reported, and no one is in custody. Detectives from CPD Area One are investigating the incident.

Another man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, was discovered by police responding to a shooting in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood’s 6200-block of South Campbell Avenue at approximately 3:16 a.m. He sustained two gunshot wounds to the back. According to witnesses, the shooters were in a moving vehicle. No arrests have been made, and detectives from CPD Area One are investigating.

A man, whose age remains unknown, was discovered shot inside a smashed car on Friday night in Woodlawn. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. after a passerby informed police of a car that had collided with a wall in the 6700 block of South Woodlawn Avenue. The driver was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the chest and later pronounced dead. No arrests have been recorded.

Two individuals were shot while standing outside on the Far South Side of the city. The shooting occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the Longwood Manor area, specifically on the 9600 block of South Loomis Street. A 31-year-old male suffered gunshot wounds to his face and shoulder and was hospitalized in fair condition. A 27-year-old male was also shot multiple times in the torso and is in critical condition. The victims were unable to provide details about the incident, and no arrests have been made. Detectives from the CPD Area One are investigating.

According to authorities, there were at least 31 gunshot incidents in Chicago last weekend, resulting in six fatalities. The city continues to grapple with gun violence, leaving families and communities devastated.
