Daniel Stack, a longtime firefighter at the Highland Volunteer Fire Department and a beloved resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, tragically passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024. His sudden death has left many hearts scarred, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Daniel was a dedicated public servant who spent his career helping others. He served as a teacher at the Allegheny County Fire Academy and previously worked as the Director of Safety and Security for the North Allegheny School District. Most recently, he was appointed as the Safety Manager at Geottle Engineering and Construction Company. His passion for public service was evident in everything he did.
Aside from his love for his family, which he cherished and loved dearly, Daniel was an enthusiastic fan of Jimmy Buffett and enjoyed sharing his margarita machine with friends. His door was always open, and he welcomed everyone with a warm smile. Whether you wanted to go for a swim, have a margarita, or simply enjoy a cool drink, Daniel was always happy to oblige.
The family requests that attendees wear casual attire to all services, excluding mass, to keep things lighthearted and celebratory. As Jennifer Swanhart Mance so eloquently put it, “Dan would want everyone to be lighthearted and to celebrate his life. Please feel free to wear something that represents the Dan we all know and love.”
