Emanuel “Bill” John Ziegler, a 62-year-old resident of Kennewick, Washington, met his untimely demise on Tuesday, May 14th, in a tragic hunting accident in Wallowa County, Oregon. The incident occurred at approximately 5:05 PM in the 68000 block of Elk Mountain Road, Enterprise, where Ziegler was shooting ground squirrels with friends on private property.
According to the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office, Ziegler accidentally shot himself with a single gunshot, resulting in his immediate death. Emergency responders, including Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Oregon State Police, and Emergency Medical Services, rushed to the scene but unfortunately found Ziegler deceased upon arrival.
Ziegler was accompanied by friends who were also participating in the hunting activity, and they were all visibly shaken by the tragic events that unfolded. The investigation, conducted by the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Wallowa County District Attorney’s Office, and the Wallowa County Medical Examiner, concluded that the death was an unfortunate accident, and no foul play was suspected.
