In a tragic and horrifying incident in Brooklyn, Teddy Knight shot and killed his girlfriend Tanezia Blockwood before taking his own life in a murder-suicide witnessed by his own mother. The heartbreaking event occurred in a shared family apartment, leaving the community and loved ones in shock.

The incident took place just after 10 a.m. on Monday at a fourth-floor apartment on Avenue I near Ocean Avenue in Midwood. According to the police, Teddy Knight, 35, and his girlfriend, Tanezia Blockwood, 29, were found dead with gunshot wounds to the head. The couple’s young children, a 2-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl, were present in the apartment but were quickly removed from the scene unharmed.

Norma Knight, Teddy Knight’s mother, witnessed the horrific event unfold. She told the Daily News that her son and Blockwood had been arguing for several hours before the deadly shootings. Norma recounted how her son pulled Blockwood into the bathroom, where their argument continued. “He goes out and comes back,” Norma Knight said. “He starts shooting her and then stomping on her face.”

The police were called to the apartment following reports of the gunshots. Upon arrival, they found both Teddy Knight and Tanezia Blockwood deceased. Norma Knight was taken to a nearby hospital for observation after the traumatic incident.

Tanezia Blockwood was described by her aunt as a loving mother and a dedicated individual who had recently completed nursing school. She was working at a hospital while finishing her degree. “She was a beautiful person,” her aunt said, requesting to remain unnamed. “She wasn’t the type to argue. She was quiet.”

The aunt further described Teddy Knight as a “demanding” boyfriend. “He was very quiet,” she recalled. “He wanted things to go his way, and she’s an educated woman.” Recently, Blockwood had begun to stand up to Knight and had plans to take their children and move to an apartment she had secured.

The police are continuing to investigate the incident and have not yet officially ruled the deaths as a murder-suicide, although the evidence strongly suggests this scenario. The couple’s children are now left without their parents, and the family is grappling with the immense loss.

This tragic event has left the community in shock and has raised concerns about domestic violence and the signs that often precede such violent outcomes. Friends and family of Tanezia Blockwood are mourning the loss of a woman who was described as caring and hardworking, with a bright future ahead of her.

As the investigation continues, the community is coming together to support the grieving family, particularly the young children who have lost both their parents in such a devastating manner. There are calls for more resources
