A woman was found stabbed to death in her home in South Pasadena on Tuesday night, prompting a thorough investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim was discovered by her two adult grandchildren at approximately 8:45 p.m. at her residence on Brent Avenue. South Pasadena Police, Fire, and Rescue responded to the scene, where she was pronounced dead.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the fatal stabbing. As of Wednesday, no suspects are in custody, and no descriptions have been released. Detectives are working to determine whether the incident was part of a robbery or another motive. South Pasadena Police Chief Solinsky was seen at the scene alongside LASD homicide detectives, who conducted a detailed investigation both inside and outside the property. The street remained blocked off as the investigation continued.

Neighbors described a tense and somber atmosphere as the police worked through the night. One neighbor mentioned that the victim’s adult grandchildren were questioned by the police and noted that the back door of the home had been open all night. Earlier in the evening, a South Pasadena Fire Department paramedic entered the home with a defibrillator but exited shortly after. The power was reportedly off on the victim’s floor of the building.

A neighbor who returned home around 8:30 p.m. recounted seeing police arrive as he came back from the grocery store. News crews from NBC and Channel 9 were also present, seeking information from LASD’s public information officer. As of yet, LASD has not released a public report.

The victim, described as an elderly woman, had lived alone in the well-maintained property for many years. The upstairs unit of her home had been vacant for about two years. She was known to have two adult grandchildren, a granddaughter and a grandson, who had previously lived with her.

Further accounts from a neighbor across the street mentioned hearing police officers in the back of the building yelling for someone to come out of the second floor, with their guns drawn, adding to the night’s tension.
