Vallera Cole Obituary, Death: Devoted Mother and Grandmother Passes Away – A Life of Love, Compassion, and Adventure Comes to a Close
Vallera Cole, a devoted and compassionate grandmother and mother, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and adventure. She was a long-time resident of Albany, GA, and a member of the Catholic church of St. Teresa.
Born and raised in New Castle, Vallera graduated from New Castle High School and went on to attend secretarial school. She worked as a waitress and later for Western Union, supporting her husband Dick while he pursued his education. After relocating to Georgia, she transferred to Albany, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Vallera was a devoted mother and grandmother, always ready to lend a helping hand to her loved ones. She was a passionate swimmer, starting at a young age and continuing to swim laps at Tony’s Gym and the YMCA until about ten years ago. She also enjoyed participating in business softball and volleyball teams in her younger years. After retirement, she took pleasure in participating in a mixed league with her spouse in the evening and a ladies league in the morning.
Vallera loved taking trips with her spouse and family, exploring the world and enjoying quality time together. Her favorite destination was the beach, where she would often relax and soak up the sun. She was also an avid shopper, decorator, and host, always making sure her home was warm and welcoming for family and friends. Her love for reading was unmatched, devouring at least one book a week.
Vallera was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard Cole, her parents Frank and Mildred Cartwright, and one sister Barbara Pearson. She is survived by her children Kathy Hardison of Leesburg, GA, and Brian Cole of Johns Creek, GA; her grandchildren Trey Hardison of San Antonio, TX, Angie Hardison of Leesburg, GA, and Owen Cole of Johns Creek, GA; great-grandchildren Henry and Ellie Kate Hardison of San Antonio, TX; her sister Debbie Falix of Kennett Square, PA; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family in Pennsylvania, as well as many friends around the world and in the Albany area.
Vallera’s passing leaves a gaping hole in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy, however, will live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. She will be deeply missed, but her love, compassion, and adventure will never be forgotten.
